Children’s Christmas Party 2023

December 28 is a very special day when the Catholic Church commemorates the Holy Innocents. The Holy Innocents are the children that were killed on the orders of King Herod upon hearing that there was a new born King (Jesus) in Bethlehem. King Herod feared that with the presence of the new king, his kingship was in a big risk. “Tricked by the Magi, he became very enraged, and sent and slew all the male children who were in Bethlehem and all its vicinity, from two years old and under…” (Matt. 2:16, NASB). This day is therefore celebrated by all the children throughout the world. This was the second year that this day was celebrated by all the Children of Kirowooza Parish.

The day was organized by the Fr. Morris Kayanja, the Father In-Charge of Schools together with a team of teachers. We were honoured to be joined by TOKENS OF LIFE UGANDA under the directorship of Mr. Christopher Mukasa and his team as the official sponsors of the event. We also thank two other organizations, INFINITY IDEAS NETWORK led by Rosemary Nakasiita and RISE AFRICA MISSION led by Barbara Wrzos who contributed financially to the activities of the day. Among other outstanding people to that were: Gertrude Tumusiime Nakalembe, Charlene Pauline Adiru and Veronica, Marta Krol and Ewelina Antoniuk, Mrs. Lydia Luyimbaazi, Goreth Tukamuhebwa, Madam Emily Bourgeois the leader of Kirowooza parish laity, Dr. Lawrence Kakooza from UK, Counsel Davis Kiconco of Melchi & Co. Advocates and all people of goodwill that contributed to the activities of the day. Lastly were the chief guests of the year: Timothy Ssemyalo, Francis Kyeyune and Rachael Ssemyalo, children from Kitovu Parish who bought fellow children a cake for the day.

The attendance this year was so outstanding, with an approximation of over 500 children. Children were so happy and enjoyed every little bit of the day’s activities. They still remember the lessons conducted by Mrs. Mary Walugembe and Mr. Francis Xavier Lubuuka. They can never forget MR. POSHO (Santa Claus) because it was their first time seeing him physically in Kirowooza. They were also excited about face painting which many of them had not experienced before.

We look forward to more sponsors and people of good will in the coming years. We hope to bring in more activities this year and the following years so that the children can be involved in learning and sharing amongst themselves.
